Stages -

Stage 1: Metallography Quiz
Stage 2: Sample Preparation and Analysis

Guidelines for the event:

  • The competition will consist of two stages —
    Stage 1: Metallography Quiz
Stage 2: Sample Preparation and Analysis
  • Stage 1: Metallography Quiz
    • Participants will take a quiz focused on general metallurgy and metallography.
    • It is an elimination round.
  • Stage 2: Sample Preparation and Analysis
    • Selected participants from Stage 1 will be paired into groups.
    • Each group will be provided with a metallography sample.
    • Groups will prepare the sample using standard metallographic techniques, such as grinding, polishing, and etching, within a specified time limit.
    • After sample preparation, groups will analyse the microstructure to identify the sample and its key features.
    • All necessary materials for sample preparation will be provided to the participants in advance.
    • The group that performs the most accurate microstructural analysis in the shortest time will be declared the winner.
    • The use of mobile phones or any unfair means during any stage of the competition is strictly prohibited. Any violation will result in immediate disqualification..
